Garbage Collection for Control Systems

چکیده
This paper describes a scheme for garbage collection suitable for hard real-time applications. The approach supports both periodic high-priority processes and low-priority processes. Garbage collection work is done exclusively during execution of low-priority processes. A prototype garbage collector has been implemented for a C++ real-time kernel. The results confirms that high-priority processes can be guaranteed sub-millisecond response times and meet tight

Scheduling Garbage Collection in Embedded Systems
The complexity of systems for automatic control and other safety-critical applications grows rapidly. Computer software represents an increasing part of the complexity. As larger systems are developed, we need to find scalable techniques to manage the complexity in order to guarantee high product quality. Memory management is a key quality factor for these systems. Automatic memory management, ...
متن کاملPushdown ow analysis with abstract garbage collection
In the static analysis of functional programs, pushdown flow analysis and abstract garbage collection push the boundaries of what we can learn about programs statically. This work illuminates and poses solutions to theoretical and practical challenges that stand in the way of combining the power of these techniques. Pushdown flow analysis grants unbounded yet computable polyvariance to the anal...
متن کاملCollection Schemes for Distributed Garbage
With the continued growth in interest in distributed systems, garbage collection is actively receiving attention by designers of distributed languages [Bal, 1990]. Distribution adds another dimension of complexity to an already complex problem. A comprehensive review and bibliography of distributed garbage collection literature up to 1992 is presented. As distributed collectors are largely base...
متن کاملEmpirical Studies of Distributed Garbage Collection
Garbage collection has been a necessary evil of computer languages that employ dynamic data structures. The 1990’s has seen some significant technology shifts that present new challenges for automatic garbage collection. In particular, distributed systems are providing an economical approach to parallel processing. Many distributed garbage collection algorithms have been proposed but few have b...
متن کاملIntrospective pushdown analysis
In the static analysis of functional programs, pushdown flow analysis and abstract garbage collection skirt just inside the boundaries of soundness and decidability. This work illuminates and conquers the theoretical challenges that stand in the way of combining the power of these techniques. Pushdown flow analysis grants unbounded yet computable polyvariance to the analysis of return-flow in h...
